At Ditan AI, we set out to replace a time-consuming, manual audit process with an AI-driven MVP. The first prototype mapped and defined workflows for control testing and workpaper generation, allowing AI agents to test evidence, perform attribute checks, and produce documents ready for auditor review.

Auditing covers a broad range of activities, from financial reporting to operational reviews. To make the problem more approachable, the team narrowed the scope to SOC 2 cybersecurity audits, a high-demand area where accuracy, documentation, and compliance are critical.

Mapping
I began by learning how the founders collected and organized evidence, identified bottlenecks in auditor workflows, and determined which tasks could realistically be automated with their current technical capabilities. This foundation gave me enough context to start envisioning what an automated SOC 2 audit workflow might look like.
